AUD Webinar
Thursday, January 23, 2020, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST
Category: Webinar

Pharmacological treatment of alcohol use disorder is available but underutilized. Federally Qualified Health Centers are required to report diagnostic counts and visits of patients with certain alcohol-related diagnostic codes. While currently not a clinical performance measure, the provision of FDA approved medications for alcohol use disorder is a best practice. This webinar will discuss the prevalence and consequences of alcohol use disorder (AUD). Alcohol screening as standard care will be reviewed, highlighting steps for further assessment for those with the highest screening scores. The severity level of AUD will be discussed relative to the diagnostic criteria. FDA-approved medications for AUD will be discussed. Participants will examine the workflow within their setting related to alcohol screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery supports.
Objectives:
  1. Grasp the critical importance for addressing alcohol use in primary care
  2. Associate three levels of alcohol use disorder with diagnostic criteria
  3. Make informed decisions about alcohol-related pharmacotherapy for primary care patients
