Description
This virtual two-day workshop sponsored by the Delaware Division of Public Health aims to explore multiple dimensions of cultural competency in healthcare and within the workplace. It will advance participants’ understanding of health disparities and conditions that support health equity for marginalized populations. Participants will learn about barriers to actualizing healthy communities and how social determinants of health and structural and individual circumstances affect populations. Participants will engage in discussions related to combatting health inequities in society at large, as well as within their roles as healthcare leaders, practitioners, and front-line workers.
Continuing Nursing Education
In order to receive CNEs, you must attend both days. Certificates verifying Continuing Nursing Education 3.00 contact hours have been approved for this program provided:
- Attendance at both sessions
- Submission of a nursing license, where applicable on the registration form
- Completion of an evaluation at the end of the course
Objectives
- Understand the difference between health, health disparity, and health inequity
- Identify parameters that detract from and or contribute to a healthy community
- Analyze social determinants of health and health inequities
- Gain knowledge on how to improve racial, class, and other group differences in health and healthcare
- Determine various approaches to making health equity a strategic priority
- Analyze various approaches to improving cultural competency in healthcare and within the workplace
