It has come to our attention through HRSA that there may be some discrepancies in the Medicare numbers that have been submitted on Form 5B in EHB. This could have reimbursement repercussions if these billing numbers are not accurately listed in EHB.

The Philadelphia Regional Office of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will be hosting an Open Door Forum (ODF) call and webinar for Region III providers on Wednesday, February 08, 2012 from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm to present an overview regarding the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP)/Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), and the final rule. The presentation will conclude with a questions and answers period regarding the program and final rule.

Around the country, many Affordable Care Act implementation efforts are already underway. Still, many Americans are unclear about what the individual reforms mean, and more importantly, how the new benefits and provisions of reform will impact them.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has created a new series of animated educational videos to help patients understand the Affordable Care Act. These short videos tackle five common terms of ACA implementation. Topics include: Health Insurance Exchanges, Cost Sharing, the Medicare Part D Donut Hole, Medicaid Expansion, and Market Reforms.

Phase One of the West Baltimore project just came to completion.  Phase one focused on data collection as well as stakeholder interviews.  The progress to date has included collection and organization of data from city, state, and national sources.  These data include demographic data, hospital discharge data, health status data, and other data sets.

The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced that Missouri would be the first state in the nation to move to the health home model. Beginning next year, Missouri will take a new approach to serving residents with mental health, substance abuse and other chronic conditions. States with approved proposals can receive enhanced 90 percent federal matching funds to support those activities for two years of the program. Missouri has worked closely with both CMS and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in developing its health home model to improve care for patients. Currently, two other States (Rhode Island and Oregon) have applied for a similar Health Home State Plan Amendment.
