For twenty-four years, Baltimore Medical System (BMS) has been providing primary and preventive health care to seriously disadvantaged communities in East Baltimore. We are a 501 (c) (3) organization, with a volunteer community Board of Directors.
We operate six primary care health centers and four school health sites serving a total of 50,000 people annually, and providing 180,000 primary care and mental health visits and associated laboratory and pharmacy services. We also are an obstetrical and gynecological group that in 2008 delivered over 1,300 infants and performed over 500 surgical procedures. We are part of the national “safety net” of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), providing comprehensive care to all people regardless of their ability to pay. We have been accredited by the Joint Commission of Health Care Organizations as an Ambulatory Care Facility since 1987.
