The Mid-Atlantic Association of Community Health Centers (MACHC) is a not for profit membership organization that serves community, migrant and homeless health centers, local non-profit and community-owned healthcare programs in Maryland and Delaware. MACHC works to increase access to care and reduce health disparities through the provision of training and technical assistance, research, public policy development, community education, as well as promoting collaboration and best practices.
MACHC is partnering with Pfizer, Inc., to host our 2nd Annual Women’s Health Symposium which will be held on May 26, 2007 at the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel, in Baltimore Maryland. The HERS! Health Empowerment and Resource Symposium, is reaching out to women aged 18 years and older, from all races and ethnicities, with incomes, education and occupations across the spectrum. Through HERS women will have an opportunity to learn about relevant health issues (such as breast cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and nutrition), gaining the knowledge, skills and attitude to act as informed and proactive participants in their health care. This event is free to the public.
HERS! will provide information, education and resources on early prevention of chronic disease and illness and improved health well-being, health screenings for early detection of health risks and illness, referrals, information booths, organizational outreach and demonstration areas for fitness and cooking events.
The goal for our 2nd Annual Women’s Health Symposium is to set a higher standard by providing women with the information and tools they need to be advocates for their health.
